New BA Programs in Advertising, Public Relations and Marketing
Feb. 24, 2014
The School of Fine and Performing Arts and the School of Media Arts recently announced several new learning pathways for students. Effective Fall 2014, Advertising, Public Relations and Marketing will convert from concentrations to BA programs.
Also effective at the beginning of academic year 2014-15, the Marketing degree program will be offered and administered through the Arts, Entertainment and Media Management (AEMM) Department, which will be renamed the Business and Entrepreneurship Department effective April 7, 2014. The Advertising and Public Relations programs will be administratively housed with the Journalism Department.
Students enrolled in the Marketing Communication program may continue as they are now, graduating with a BA in Marketing Communication with their existing concentration, or may choose to declare their concentration as a major in Advertising, Public Relations or Marketing. Students who initially enroll in Fall 2014 will enter in one of the three new degrees (Advertising, Public Relations, or Marketing). Marketing Communication seniors graduating in May or December 2014 are not affected by this change.
In a name change approved early in 2014, Journalism majors will graduate with the degree Multimedia Journalism. Journalism students will not see any differences in their majors or concentrations.
