Stephen T. Asma (Humanities, History and Social Sciences) was featured in the article "Does Alternative Medicine Need a Scientific Explanation" on Your Wellness. He was also cited as an expert source in the article "Not All That's Fair is Fair" in The Hindu.
David W. Berner (Radio) won the 2013 Chicago Writers Association Book of the Year Award for his memoir, Any Road Will Take You There: A Journey of Fathers and Sons, in the category of nontraditional nonfiction.
Elio Leturia (Journalism) was on the organizing committee of "The Fulbright Branding Effect on Membership Development" training that was sponsored by the Fulbright Association and took place Nov. 9 at the Journalism Department of Columbia College Chicago.
Mehrnaz Saeed-Vafa (Cinema Art + Science) discussed the films of Claire Denis with the Chicago Reader's Ben Sachs.
Stan West (English, Television, First-Year Seminar) presented how to use creative nonfiction to tell a better story on Nov. 22 at a Cengage educational publisher’s conference to college composition teachers in San Antonio, Texas. West is also scheduled to present a paper and film on how New Orleans and Chicago youth use “drums of peace” to help calm violence on Feb. 13 at the National Association of African American Studies Conference in Baton Rouge and Feb. 16 at the Ashe Cultural Arts Center of New Orleans.
