Elio Leturia's (Journalism) term as president of the Chicago Chapter of the Fulbright Association recently ended. He delivered his farewell message December 7, 2012, at the Dee Sarelas Service Award Ceremony at Columbia College Chicago.

Vaun Monroe (Film + Video) was quoted in a TribStar article titled "In Honor of Martin Luther King Jr," which addresses identifying subtle messages in film and television. 

RoseAnna Mueller (HHSS) presented an overview of Teresa de la Parra's works—author of Iphigenia, The Diary of a Young Woman Who Wrote Because She Was Bored and Mama Blanca's Memoirs—including her short stories and her lectures describing women's roles in Latin American history on January 25 in Oaxaca, Mexico. 

Michael K. Paxton (Art + Design) received an Illinois Arts Council Individual Artist Professional Development Grant for 2013—his third from the Illinois Arts Council—which will fund the total redesign of Paxton's website and cover documentation of new work that is underway. 

Jennifer Peepas (Film + Video) was featured in The Daily Northwestern for her role as a professional blogger known online as Captain Awkward and for her visit to Northwestern University's campus to address ways to cope with stress and isolation in college.

Marilyn Propp (Art + Design) has been curated into the exhibition Climate of Uncertainty—which was featured on Chicago Tonight—through March 24 at the DePaul Art Museum. She is also exhibiting in Top Drawer Small Prints through March 23 at the Peltz Gallery in Milwaukee. 

Howard Sandroff's (Audio Arts + Acoustics) work "Tephillah" for the clarinet and computer-controlled audio processors (1990) will be performed by clarinetist Alejandro Acierto with Ben Sutherland (Audio Arts + Acoustics) at the February 3 "Hanging from the Edge" concert presented by the University of Chicago's Renaissance Society and CUBE Contemporary Chamber Ensemble at the University of Chicago campus. Sutherland will perform Sandroff's "Sculpture: untitled #4, a work for welded steel and brass" (2012).
