"Adopt a Student" for the Holidays

December 5, 2012

This holiday season, help the Conway Achievement Project and Student Relations “adopt a student” by purchasing a gift card for either a general merchandise or food store.

Adopt a Student is a program to help students in need, as identified by the Conway Achievement Project and Student Relations. Each card should be $25 or $30. You may team up and purchase a gift card together to reduce individual cost.

Once purchased, put the gift card into a holiday card and sign it with your first name only. You can also put a few words of encouragement to the anonymous student. You can also have your students donate a dollar if they wish and let them sign a holiday card.

These cards will then be distributed through counselors and student services staff to those students identified as being in need.

Send the card or drop it off unsealed to Conway Achievement Project, 618 S. Michigan Ave., c/o Gena Flynn, or drop off a holiday card with cash and Adopt a Student coordinators Carol Olsen or Gena Flynn will purchase a gift card and insert it for you.

Please e-mail Gena Flynn at gflynn@colum.edu or call 312-369-8131 if you have any students who may benefit from this program, and direct any questions to Carol Olsen at colsen@colum.edu
