September 17, 2012

The Fiction Writing Department of Columbia College Chicago recently announced Fictionary, an annual magazine produced by the Student Board of the Fiction Writing Department, has received a Gold Medalist Award from the Columbia University Scholastic Press Association (CSPA).

This follows on the heels of the same recognition received by the Fiction Writing Department’s annual anthology of student writing, Hair Trigger 34.

CSPA, affiliated with the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University New York, has evaluated student magazines since 1925. Additional awards for Fictionary, Hair Trigger, and their individual contributors will be announced in the spring.

Congratulations go to faculty advisors Sam Weller and Bobby Biedrzycki; managing editor Kevin Kane; assistant editor Matt Arado; associate editor Linda Naslund; photographers Moe Martinez, Su Tang, and Frederick Carre Alexis; and contributing writers Greg Baldino, Joe Meno, Patrick Andrews, Jessie Morrison, Justin Bostian, Maggie Ritchie, Kaitlyn Wightman, Matt Arado, Kevin Kane, Michael Meyer, and Megan Stielstra. The Fiction Writing Department thanks Soule Esemplare and to Columbia’s Creative Services Department for the beautiful design.
