FPA Associate Dean Frederking to Return to Teaching
Bill Frederking will step down as associate dean for the School of Fine and Performing Arts as of September 1, and will return to the Photography Department where he has been a tenured faculty member since 1992.
During the 2012-13 academic year, Frederking will take a "much-deserved" year-long sabbatical, said Louise Love, vice president for academic affairs and interim provost. He will return to his first passion - teaching - in the fall of 2013.
During his four years of service as associate dean, Frederking has directed substantial changes in curriculum that will continue to improve the student experience at Columbia for many years to come, said Love.
"Bill has left his mark in a very measurable way and has provided a tremendous service to this institution," said Love.
"His dedication to teaching and learning has made Bill an invaluable member of our college community. The College looks forward to Bill’s return to faculty and we feel confident he will continue to enrich the School through his outstanding teaching and service as a member of the Photography faculty."
