Kevin Cooper's (Film + Video) 3D feature film, I Heart Shakey, is currently available On Demand, will be released in theaters on June 29, and was featured in two recent articles in The Wall Street Journal and Reel Chicago. Cooper was mentioned in an interview with actor Steve Lemme, who plays the lead role in I Heart Shakey, and was also featured on ABC7 to talk about the film.
Patrick Friel (Film + Video) was the festival director and programmer for the 24th Onion City Experimental Film and Video Festival, which took place June 21-23 at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
Patricia McNair (Fiction Writing) won the Devil's Kitchen Reading Award in Prose for her story collection, The Temple of Air. She read her work at the Devil's Kitchen Literary Festival at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale this October.
Mehrnaz Saeed-Vafa's (Film + Video) Jerry and Me makes its international premiere at Edinburgh International Film Festival, will have its North American premiere at BAMcinemaFest, and, later this year, will screen in Chicago at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
David Yonan (Music) was featured in an article
on BroadwayWorld.com. Yonan is the founder and artistic director of the
Fine Arts Music Society and is preparing to host the Fine Arts Music
Society Summer Festival, which runs July 7–21 in Brown
County, Indiana.
Mort Castle and Sam Weller (Fiction Writing), editors of the upcoming book Shadow Show: All-New Stories in Celebration of Ray Bradbury, have received praise from the Chicago Tribune, which called the book a "beach read."
Etta Worthington (Television) was featured in an article on OakPark.com for her contributions to Susana Darwin's new film, Hatboxes, which begins filming at the end of June.
