Alum’s fashion designs featured in FLOR catalog
Agnes Hamerlik (BFA ’12) and her creations were tapped last fall to be part of a carpet design company FLOR’s recent catalog. FLOR also detailed the shoot on its design blog, Musings.
The blog shares some of the creative thinking behind incorporating Hamerlik:
While we may be fond of fashion, we’re not experts. We needed a little help to pull this off, so we enlisted the aid of a friend and former colleague, Sarah Faust. Sarah is an accomplished graphic designer and photographer in her own right and an adjunct faculty member at Chicago’s Columbia College. She made a few inquiries and helped us connect with Agnes Hamerlik, a local artist, designer and recent alumna of the school’s Fine & Performing Arts program.
The FLOR shoot featured designs from Hamerlik’s collection “Dark Flower,” inspired by the Mexican artist, Frido Kahlo. As an added challenge, Hamerlik was asked to transform garbage bags into wearable art, also featured on the blog.
Hamerlik was featured last summer in the alumni magazine DEMO. That is where alumna and former FLOR colleague Sarah Faust learned about Agnes and set the wheels in motion for this photo shoot. You can read the spring/summer DEMO story and see the “Dark Flower” designs here.
