Open Doors Gala 2013

Columbia College Chicago welcomed more than 220 guests who celebratedthe talents of students and raised scholarship funds during the third annual Open Doors Gala on Nov. 9. The campus Media Production Center was transformed to showcase works and performances by some 65 students representing 10 departments during the black-tie dinner.
More than 70 Open Doors Scholarships were funded by the gala. Since 2011, 250 Open Doors Scholarships have been funded to enable Chicago Public Schools graduates to attend Columbia College.
The event also honored Board of Trustees Chair Emeritus Allen M. Turner with the Chicago Legacy Award. The award honors those who have made a significant impact in the Chicago community and helped open doors for future generations. Turner
is immediate past chairman of the board of Columbia College Chicago's Board of Trustees and a partner with investment firm The Pritzker Organization.
Turner's other activities as an arts advocate include: chairman of the Visiting Committee on Visual Arts at the University of Chicago; founding trustee, Pritzker Architecture Prize; trustee, Market Theater Foundation, Johannesburg, South Africa; trustee, Newberry Library. He also serves on the committee on Modern and Contemporary Art at the Art Institute of Chicago.
