Creating Industry Buzz From Baltimore

[CA+S MFA Candidate] Angel Kristi Williams was hard at work on her latest film project and was completely unaware that she had been recognized by a national publication as one of 10 directors to watch.

She worked in television as a marketing post production coordinator for Discovery Communications. She also earned the Lumiere Scholarship— established to recognize the outstanding creative and academic achievements of incoming students in the masters of fine arts film and video programs—to attend Columbia College Chicago as a master of fine arts candidate in cinema directing.

“I always had aspirations to be a media or image maker of some sort,” Williams said.

Williams was recently awarded the 2014 Sony Pictures Diversity Fellowship, an unrestricted grant of $10,000. The Diversity Fellowship was established by Sony Pictures Entertainment to provide year round support to one outstanding Project Involve participating filmmaker.
