Back in Baltimore with CHARLOTTE

Zayden Bates, actress for Charlotte

CA+S MFA Candidate Angel Kristi Williams is on Paste Magazine's 10 Black Directors to Watch in 2014 and has been selected as a Director for Film Independent's Project Involve, a mentoring program that will coincide with the making of her thesis film Charlotte.

Film Independent has selected 30 filmmakers for Project Involve, its signature program dedicated to fostering the careers of filmmakers from communities traditionally underrepresented in the film industry.  Project Involve, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, runs annually for nine months. During the program, participants create short films, receive one-on-one film industry mentors (Williams’ mentor is music video and commercial director Melina Matsoukas), access to production-based master workshops taught by top film professionals, career development training and industry networking opportunities.

As Williams takes part in Project Involve, she will also be making her MFA Cinema Directing thesis film, Charlotte, a quiet story about friendship and those moments of childhood that never leave us.  Williams is shooting the film in Baltimore in March 2014.
