Radio Major Ben Nance Hired as a Producer at WBBM-AM
Senior Radio Major Ben Nance doesn't graduate until May, but his
perseverance, experience, and ability to network, has landed him a job
as a producer at WBBM, Newsradio 780 AM.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Ben did his due diligence by researching several schools before deciding to transfer to Columbia College Chicago in the fall of 2012 to obtain a Bachelors Degree. Ben found that Columbia's reputation definitely precedes itself. "After looking at a few local colleges, Columbia really stood out as the perfect spot for me. Everyone I talked to said they had a great radio program with lots of alums in the Chicagoland area. Not only do they teach you all aspects of the business, but they are networked across the country, all of which appealed to me."
As a producer, Ben's job entails editing audio, researching potential news stories, working with reporters, and informing editors of breaking news stories. According to Ben, the job opportunity came at the right time. "Having a job before graduation takes a lot of stress out of the job searching process and I fully credit Columbia College Chicago's industry connections for that. Everyone has gone out of their way to work with me on learning, growing, and pursuing my dream. Columbia College Chicago changed my life and i will be proud to call myself an alum in May 2014."
