Carmen DeFalco of ESPN Chicago Honored as One of the Top Sports Talk Show Hosts in America
Carmen DeFalco (B.A. '99) afternoon co-host at ESPN Chicago (AM 1000), has been selected by renowned
radio industry publication, "Talkers Magazine," as one of the Top 100 Sports Talk Show Hosts in America.
Carmen along with his co-host John "Jurko" Jurkovic, came in at #24 on the coveted list. "Heavy Hundred of Sports Talk" focuses solely on sports talkers, and the show's ratings and revenue are strong deciding factors in determining rank. Carmen had this to say about the honor. "It's always nice to be recognized for the hard work we all put into making the show fun, entertaining, informative, and edgy. With all the sports shows out there now across the country it's great knowing people appreciate what we do. Obviously, to be mentioned with some true heavy hitters in the industry is also rewarding."
In receiving this award Carmen had time to reflect on his Columbia education. "Columbia College Chicago was a great place to learn and connect with people. I always felt that the teachers and professors put us in a real working world situation. The real key was the relationship building and learning from teachers in the industry. i used that to get my first internship in the business. That led to my first job as a producer, which ultimately led to my first job on-air. Opportunities present themselves through the relationships made, and the lessons learned at Columbia College Chicago."
