“It’s cool to be in the position of hiring
these folks knowing that they are bringing their enthusiasm and
knowledge to your film and because of that,
the film will be better. You hear stories about how some productions
abuse crew, but we’ve tried to create an environment where they can do
their best work, so I can do my best work, and we can all make the best
film possible. The take away for them is participating
in a film they have ownership in and that’s pretty exciting," said Newell about working with a crew made up of a majority of recent Columbia College alums and current students.
Now that Chicago production is wrapped,
shooting will continue in September with a skeleton crew
traveling to Paris, France. The film is
scheduled for completion in late 2013 with a 2014/15 festival season.
