Radio Students Breaking New Ground with Weekly Podcast

Radio Department Freshman Miguel Flores and Sophomore Joseph George have put together an original weekly podcast entitled, "Nothing But Net," that brings a fresh perspective on the high school sports scene in the Midwest, as well as diving into discussions with local and national guests.

With a mutual love of all things sport, "Nothing But Net," originated from conversations the two would have before and after their Introduction to Radio and Radio Production I: Intro radio courses. According to Joesph, "We immediately bonded and started graphing out the show that we would do and decided that doing a weekly podcast would best serve as an outlet for our passion."

Taking full advantage of the professional studios that the Radio Department offers its students, "Nothing But Net" is recorded and produced every Friday at the school. With over 20 episodes recorded, the guest list is a who's who of the sporting world including former Chicago Bull Dennis Rodman, former Chicago Bear LB Otis Wilson from the 1985 Super Bowl team, Brent Taylor from Bleacher Report, and Columbia Radio Department alums Carmen DeFalco (B.A. '97), and Ray Flores (B.A. '09) from ESPN Chicago.

One of their most recent interviews was with the #1 ranked high school basketball player in the nation from the class of 2014, Whitney Young's 6'11 Jahlil Okafor. Click here to listen.
