The Big Screen will take place on April 25, 2013 in Film Row Cinema, 1104 S. Wabash, 8th Floor.

Created in 1997 by Film & Video staffer Eileen Long, the festival serves as an opportunity to showcase the talents of students in a juried setting, but to also give student filmmakers a chance to get together with faculty, family and friends in an end-of-year celebration of their work.

“What started as an opportunity to get our students together to form a community of filmmakers, has grown into something we could never have imagined,” states Long. “I am constantly in awe of their talents, and I’m so pleased that the department supports this annual event. It’s a great time for everyone involved.”

The Big Screen has become a calling card for the department, promoting both students and the program alike. Winning Big Screen films have gone on to screenings in Los Angeles for alumni in the industry, as well as the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
