Double Edge Theatre to perform at The Dance Center
Double Edge Theatre, co-presented with the Columbia College Chicago
Theater Department and The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago,
will be presented at The Dance Center (1306 S. Michigan Ave.) on January
18 & 19 at 8:00pm.
Rooted in Jerzy Grotowski's Eastern
European theatre practice, Double Edge Theatre is a deeply collaborative,
Massachusetts-based ensemble working in a unique form of devised physical
theatre incorporating choreography, aerial flight, puppetry and circus arts. The Grand Parade (of the Twentieth
Century), an original, multi-disciplinary piece of theatre is the first
creation in the company’s multi-year Chagall
Cycle. Imagined through the lens of visionary artist
Marc Chagall's paintings, The
Grand Parade takes audiences through a kaleidoscopic mash-up of the 20th
century that echoes Chagall’s life, which spanned nearly a
century, and summons the artist’s sensibilities and personal
memories. Conceived
and directed by artistic director Stacy Klein, original
score by Russian composer Alexander Bakshi.
The Grand Parade is
co-commissioned by Columbia College Chicago’s Theatre Department.
