F&V faculty member Mehrnaz Saeed Vafa’s personal documentary, Jerry and Me, traces her journey as an Iranian-American woman, single mother, and cinephile-turned-filmmaker, and the changing role of Hollywood in Iranian culture from the 60s to the present, all personified through her ever-shifting identification with Jerry Lewis.

On June 22, Jerry and Me makes its International Premiere at Edinburgh International Film Festival in Scotland. Next, it makes its North American premiere at BAMcinemaFest on June 24. It will be followed by the first Lewis film Saeed-Vafa saw as a 14-year-old girl in Tehran, The Disorderly Orderly (1964), in an original IB Technicolor print. Later this year, it will screen at Gene Siskel Film Center.

Saeed Vafa was interviewed on BAM's blog.
