Holly Jolly Trolley Food Drive Turns 10

The Holly Jolly Trolley returns to WCRX-FM Thursday December 6th.  The annual food drive and LIVE Broadcast benefiting the Greater Chicago Food Depository.  Students broadcast live from the WCRX “Holly Jolly Trolley” and from our building lobby located at 33 East Congress building.

We will be collecting non-perishable canned goods and accepting monetary donations for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. This event has become a Columbia College Chicago tradition and we hope this year will be even more successful.  During the past nine years, WCRX has collected more than 3,500 pounds of food and raised almost $40,000 dollars for the food depository. Our collective efforts have fed thousands of people during the holiday season.

Our all day broadcast features musicians, choirs, local dignitaries and interviews with various radio, television and entertainment artists. This year our successful WCRX Holiday Auction returns, where in the past bidders have claimed such items as autographed sporting gear, museum, sporting and theater tickets, health club memberships, hotel rooms, electronic and restaurant gift certificates with all monetary proceeds going to the GCFD.

Donate to our Silent Auction
We’re asking various companies and businesses to donate a service to our Holiday Auction.  We would greatly appreciate any service or items with a value of at least $35.00. If your donation is extra special, there is a possibility you will be asked to come to the station on December 8th to donate live on the air.  We would contact you to pre-set a time convenient for you.  Since we are a non-profit radio station, you will receive a donation letter by mail or fax that you can use for tax purposes once your donation is received in-house.  In return for your generosity, WCRX will mention your company’s name during our “LIVE” broadcast and subsequent broadcasts during the month of January. This is a cost effective way to put your name before an audience of 18-24 year olds.  Your support enhances our promotion, builds good will, contributes to good public relations, and your company is associated with a reputable not-for-profit charitable event.  For more information, please contact Cheryl Langston
