The ocean is calling your name!
Columbia College Chicago Alumni in the Portland, OR and the Vancouver, WA areas are invited to spend a leisurely day at the beach with your fellow alums. Relax while taking in the gorgeous coastline and enjoying a catered meal provided by Mr. & Mrs. Howard Shapiro (BA ’53).
This is a relaxing getaway, just for you! So, come and enjoy the beauty of the beach and the elegance of the coast. Families are welcome!

Time: 12pm – 3pm, and you are welcome to stay longer if you want some beach time.

There are small modest motels available if you would like to stay overnight. From the Westhills of Portland the trip takes about 90 minutes.
If you wanted to explore the area on your own, Lincoln City on the central Oregon coast is about a one hour drive to the south on Hwy 101. Cannon Beach, which is lovely is about 75 minutes to the north on Hwy 101. Oceanside is home to the beautiful Three Capes, Cape Mears, Cape Lookout and Cape KIwanda. Tillamook is a stinky little cow town with great cheese!

The development is called "The CAPES,” and it is a private/gated community. The address may not show on a GPS, so please take these directions.
DIRECTIONS
From Portland take OR 26 (Sunset HWY) go west toward Banks. From Banks follow signs to Tillamook on HWY6. Once in Tillamook, cross HWY 101 and follow signs to Oceanside on HWY 131. Go through Netarts, still on HWY 131, follow signs to Oceanside. The CAPES is on the left hand side BEFORE Oceanside proper. At the gate punch in 048 and you will be buzzed in. Stay on Capes Drive, past the Bocci ball court on the left. 395 Capes Drive is on the left.
There is plenty of parking on the street.
