Warren K. Chapman, previously the University of Illinois Chicago Vice Chancellor and a Columbia College trustee, joined Columbia College Chicago
in June in an interim role as senior vice president for a two-year
term. Kenneth C. Gotsch also joined the college in May as the new Vice
President for Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer.
During his two-year term, Warren Chapman will ensure a smooth transition
between the presidency of Warrick L. Carter, who will retire in August
2013, and a new president. Chapman, who has been a Columbia College
Trustee since 2003, also will oversee the implementation of the
college’s year-long self-evaluation of programs and operations called
Blueprint | Prioritization.
Chapman has more than 20 years of experience in education, most recently
serving as vice chancellor for external affairs at University of
Illinois Chicago since 2006. Prior to joining UIC, Chapman was the vice
president for corporate philanthropy at JPMorgan Chase. His career also
encompasses nine years with the Joyce Foundation, six years with
Illinois State Board of Education, and six years with the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Educational Policy
Studies. He began his career in the Illinois Department of Corrections
directing programs for youthful offenders.
Chapman earned a doctorate degree in educational policy studies from the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a concentration in the
politics of education, educational policy, and social foundations of
education. He holds a Master of Arts degree in inner city studies and a
Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art with a concentration in sculpture.
For more than sixteen-years, Chapman served as a visiting assistant
professor for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Department of
Educational Policy Studies.
Prior to joining Columbia
as CFO and vice president of Business Affairs, Kenneth Gotsch served as
CFO and Vice Chancellor of Finance for the City Colleges of Chicago
since 2005, responsible for directing the District’s overall operating
budget. Gotsch served as CFO of the Los Angeles Unified School District
as well as Chicago Public Schools before taking the City Colleges post
in 2005. He also has held previous positions with the Chicago Department
of Revenue, Illinois Economic and Fiscal Commission and Price
Waterhouse.
Gotsch earned a bachelor of science in Business Administration from
Marquette University in Milwaukee and a Master of Arts in Public Finance
from the University of Chicago Irving B. Harris Graduate School of
Public Policy Studies.
